Vice President, Integrated Air and Missile Defense Systems, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control
Timothy S. (Tim) Cahill is Vice President, Integrated Air and Missile Defense Systems for Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. This line of business includes the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) System, Patriot PAC-3 Missile, Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS), Extended Area Protection System (EAPS), and emerging Integrated Air and Missile Defense programs and technologies. Customers include the U.S. Department of Defense as well as international customers in the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
Prior to assuming this role, Mr. Cahill was the Vice President and General Manager of Strategic and Missile Defense Systems for Lockheed Martin’s Space Systems Company, responsible for over 4,000 employees in ten states, the Marshall Islands and the United Kingdom. Programs included the Navy’s Trident II D5 Fleet Ballistic Missile, the Air Force’s Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Reentry Systems, Targets and Countermeasures, Redesigned Kill Vehicle and Multiple Object Kill Vehicle. Technology development included Convention Prompt Strike and Directed Energy.
Mr. Cahill also served as Vice President of Engineering and Technology for Lockheed Martin Space Systems, where he led the company’s nearly 6,000 engineers, overseeing personnel management and development, strategy, processes, tools and training, and product technical validation.
Since joining Lockheed Martin in 1995, Mr. Cahill has had a series of increasingly important positions, including Vice President and Program Manager for P734 (a major classified program), Program Manager for Next Generation Systems, and Director of Systems Engineering. His experience spans initial concept studies, proposal delivery, program start-up, development, production, delivery, operational support and end-of-life disposal. For leading the recapture of a major business area, he received a Lockheed Martin Nova award. He also holds a patent for a modular spacecraft bus design.
Mr. Cahill began his career as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, managing the integration and launch of twenty military, NASA and classified spacecraft on Space Shuttle, Titan and Atlas launch vehicles.
Mr. Cahill holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University and a Masters in Business from Stanford University. He has also completed the Executive Program Manager’s Course at the Defense Systems Management College at Ft. Belvoir, VA.
