PNT OPEN STANDARDS

Open standards are increasingly central to the Army’s modernization of its positioning, navigation and timing platforms. For example, the C4ISR/Electronic Warfare Modular Open Suite of Standards, or CMOSS, is a modular open systems architecture that will converge a range of Army warfighting capabilities -- such as mission command, movement and maneuver, and fires -- into a single system, a major improvement over the current method of integrating many separate capability "boxes'' into vehicles. In this panel, C4ISRNET will explore the Army’s efforts to improve assured PNT through modular engineering and open standards, its adoption of mounted and dismounted alternatives for ground fighters, and tactics for maintaining precision in contested environments.
